Seoul Guide

Getting around the city and good-to-knows for your trip.

Navigation

Skip Google Maps in Korea — use Naver Map for accurate transit, walking, and taxi directions around Seoul and COEX.

Naver Map

Google Maps is unreliable in Korea — patchy transit, wrong routes, missing listings. Naver Map is the local standard for subway, walking, and taxis. English UI available.

  • Essential for getting around Seoul and finding COEX — install before you land.
  • Search "COEX" or "Samseong Station" (삼성역) for venue directions; exits 5–6 are closest.
  • Transit directions include real-time subway and bus; taxi fare estimates too.
  • Switch to English in Settings → Language if the app opens in Korean.

Getting around

The subway is the fastest way to reach COEX and most satellite events in Gangnam. Get a T-money or Cashbee card at any convenience store (7-Eleven, CU, GS25) — tap in/out on buses and the metro.

  • Use Naver Map for transit and walking — Google Maps has limited coverage in Korea.
  • Taxi flag-down is fine, but apps are easier if you don't speak Korean.
  • Most shops take card; keep some cash for street food and small vendors.

Before you go

  • Most visitors need a K-ETA or visa — check current rules for your passport before travel.
  • Power outlets: Type C/F, 220V — bring an adapter if needed.
  • Emergency: dial 119 (fire/ambulance), 112 (police).
